Phoebe Hu is a driven student with a strong interest in healthcare. Having seen firsthand the impact of disease and illness, she is committed to pursuing research that contributes to advancements in treatment. With a dedication to making an impact, she hopes to grow and apply herself to helping individuals live healthier, fuller lives, even if it’s just making a difference for one person.
The Story
As a dedicated athlete, Phoebe discovered that true growth comes from stepping outside her comfort zone. On the soccer field, confidence is key, but challenges and unfamiliar situations are inevitable. Through countless games and a mix of failures and successes, she learned the value of embracing obstacles as opportunities to learn, take initiative, and push herself beyond what she thought possible.
Being bold to take that first step has opened many doors, leading her to grow, learn, and explore new experiences. Through her participation in school activities, Phoebe found herself surrounded by many inspiring individuals as well as holding several leadership positions. Placing internationally at the 2025 HOSA ILC conference in Nashville, Tennessee, she learned that dedication and hard work truly pay off. She is actively involved in other organizations, notably competing and placing in science olympiad and FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). Volunteering at a nearby hospital gave Phoebe hands-on experience with patients and staff, helping her grow as a strong worker and expand her horizons. Assisting graduate students with research gave her firsthand exposure to the research aspect of patient care, deepening her interest in this area.
As the daughter of Chinese immigrants, Phoebe observed the challenges many in her community face when navigating the U.S. healthcare system. As the founder of Know Your Care, a website dedicated to supporting and guiding Chinese individuals through these complexities, she aims to help them access the quality care they deserve. The site includes both English and Chinese translations. Phoebe also is the creator of a YouTube channel with various videos, all presented in clear, simple language to make healthcare information accessible and easy to follow. Whether one has lived in America for several years already or is unfamiliar with the English language, Know Your Care is a source open to all.
Phoebe hopes that through her work in healthcare and research, she can inspire and encourage others to navigate difficult moments and move toward better outcomes.
